After crashing her car in the middle of no where,Bella is left on the ground in the middle of nowhere in the rain, crying after a painful and crushing blow to her life. But this time, she gets up, and meets the man that will change her life. Rated M Bella/Alistair

IT'S ALISTAIR!! Now, am I the only one out there who's always figured Alistair for some creepy, old dude who was a major pussy and hung out in attics or dwelled in caves? I don't know why, but I always figured Alistair for old. Grandpa old. Not just in age but appearance. But that's the beauty of Stephenie's books and what IS canon. There hasn't been enough information passed down from the 'almighty creator' known as Stephenie Meyer. Her sideline characters are our gold.

Alistair is an English nomadic vampire. He is described as tall and dark haired, with a misanthropic, brooding personality. Alistair has a deep mistrust of all authority and although he counts Carlisle as his closest acquaintance, he doesn’t visit more than once a century.--Twilight Wiki

And that's it.

Then someone, like lifelesslyndsey, takes Alistair and gives him his own plot - making him her own, giving him more substance, making him more relatable. She's kept the traits that introduced us to the character and she's expanded on them. Alistair comes off as an intelligent, paranoid and coarse nomad, but I get the feeling that this Alistair is no chickenshit.

Now, her characterization has just been born. Hit and Run is only three chapters in, but I get the feeling that Lyndsey's excited about this story, and I'm excited for her. There are so many questions that need be answered. The story starts out with Bella as she makes her way out of her car, which just so happens to be bent around a tree on the English countryside. After she stumbles her way down the road, she finds a farmhouse. Who opens the door when she gives it a knock? Alistair, of course. Bella recognizes him for what he is, and he recognizes Bella for what she HAS. The mark of a vampire.

I'm very curious to see where she takes this and how she develops Alistair. Our Bella has more spunk, and both the main characters are stubborn and sarcastic bastards who clearly need to get it on (I'm hoping, here). She's got a realistic plot, and Lyndsey's one hell of a writer. Go read it! It'll be a wonderful ride.

Bella is on her own when she finds the clearing. When Laurent finds her there, her werewolf saviors are nowhere to be found. Is Laurent a good guy, or will his bad side overcome him? Bella/Laurent Rated M

I read this one a long time ago. So, when Nomad month came around, I started thinking what I could rec that might be a little different from the norm. Then I remembered this little gem.

One thing about this fic - it’s light and fluffy. There is no super deep or dramatic flair in this. It's main purpose is the love story that develops between Laurent and Bella. He comes upon her in the meadow, whisks her to safety multiple times and helps to heal her so she can get over Edward, healing her heart in the hope that she will be able to move on. And she does – with him, Laurent.

I love that it’s an instant attraction but they don’t instantly do anything about it. I love the confusion Bella feels when she notices the attraction and even wonders if it’s just because she is missing Edward and Laurent is just there. But over time, she starts to realize that it is real attraction she is feeling and that she truly does love him.

She still loves Edward, as every girl keeps their first love in their hearts, but it’s not the all encompassing love she feels with Laurent. She doesn’t have abandonment issues with Laurent like she did with Edward. Laurent doesn’t try to control her or keep things from her. He lets her set her own pace. And even when he has problems being with her intimately, he doesn’t push her away in the same way Edward did. He tells her he isn’t ready yet, but that he will be.

I remember when reading this the first time that I couldn’t decide if I wanted Bella to go back to Edward or stay with Laurent. But re-reading it now, I’m sure Laurent is the one for her, for all the reasons stated above and a few more besides.
