Wednesday One Shots for 06-16-10

POSTWOS

Merina Green recommends A Stranger You Were Once by Harlequin-Raven

The story of Kate and Garrett's courtship. — "Go," Garrett said, softly. "You're too far out… so go. Pick a direction — and run like hell." Kate flashed him a grateful look, and then she was gone, a mere memory in the faint quivering of the leaves.

My Wednesday One Shot for today is A Stranger You Were Once, by Harlequin-Raven. It is a Garrett/Kate piece, in canon, and is a series of well written little vignettes that take place during the gathering of witnesses in Breaking Dawn, and then a bit after. I enjoyed it because it showed their growing attraction to each other, and gave us a brief view into the taming of a nomad. Garrett was willing to give up a life of being footloose and fancy-free; how exactly did that work for him? What went on between them, while everybody was waiting around for the end of their world?

MissMaj recommends Executioners by Estelle Rabon

The Volturi left Forks with their dignity shattered, but it wasn't long before they tracked down a certain revolutionary who had humiliated them in front of half the vampire world. Now, it's time to punish him. One-shot.

This is a very short o/s, set post-Breaking Dawn. In this story, Garrett was caught by the Volturi and they wanted him to join them as their guard. Aro calls on Chelsea, whose power is destroy people's relationship. Garrett must choose between death or staying with the guard. Should he choose to stay with the Volturi, his relationship with Kate will cease to exist. Will he choose death over a losing memory of someone he loved?

It's a very short yet quite powerful one-shot. Sadly, it only has nine reviews and it's not getting enough love. It deserves a lot of love. Go give her some love.
