Wednesday One Shots for 07-14-10

POSTWOS

At Charlie Swan's funeral, Bella Cullen is confronted by living ghosts. Implied Jacob-Leah, Jacob-Renesmee, and Jacob-Bella.

This is just a short one-shot based about sixteen years in the future after the events in Breaking Dawn. It tells the story of a disconnected Bella, so consumed with her own life and her own future, she doesnt' know what's gone on around her or with those she used to once hold dear in her heart.

Her father has died of a broken one. This little one-shot...well, it's something we could all stand to appreciate, and maybe even relate to. You have to think also that it stands to reason that Bella would eventually forget about the things that were once important to her. And you also have to have respect for Leah, who has always stood on her own ground and who opens up Bella's eyes to the reality she has so carelessly disregarded.

It's different, unique, and a sad and bittersweet tale of just what could have happened in Bella and Edward's forever. Go read it.

It's 1989 and Carlisle is turning 350 years old! Alice plans a special treat for the family party and Esme rocks the after party. Winner of 'Carlisle's 350th Birthday Party' one-shot contest on 'The Two Sides of Twilight' Forum.

For the Ladies of Twilight month, I wanted to stick to canon characters/world. I wanted to find fics where the women were still SM's creations and the world still fairly close to her world. In a word, Canon. Canon, but...more - more depth, more strength, just...more. And I really wanted an Esme one-shot. Not the sweet, motherly Esme we all know and love (or hate, depending on who you are), but Esme-as-wife-and-lover. If you don't like thinking about parents having sex, stop reading now (I seem to remember saying something similar back during Carlisle month).

ANYHOO, I came across Falling for You by Kats Flower Girls.

It may be Carlisle's birthday, but the present Esme wants to give HIM is something SHE'S been wanting for a long time. All I can say is, Go Esme! Sometimes, it's just time to break out of the rut, especially after being married a few decades. But men, well, they can be a little oblivious.

And it's a topic that's been in our tweets, emails, and own stories a lot lately, so of course when I came across this one shot, I HAD to pick it!

Really, just read it. Go now!

The Butcher and Candlestick Maker recruit Dr. Bella Swan to counsel the Baker whose buns drive the ladiesof Storybook Land wild. A big girl's fairy tale and winner of the Once Upon a Twilight contest. BxE AU/AH

Once upon a time in Storybook Land, there lived a girl named Bella Swan. One day her aunt, Mother Goose - the therapist - decides to retire and the lovely Swan takes over her profession. One would assume that being a shrink in the world of 'fairy tale' is all sunshine and rainbows, but Dr. Swan would beg to differ. She's seen it all - from Snow White's boundary issues with the Seven Dwarfs to the White Rabbit's OCD tendencies. She would argue that fairy tale isn't all about happily ever after.

Until Muffin Man enters the scene.

See, Muffin Man has a problem. Customers fall in love with him after eating his baked goods. Now, while others might think it's a gift for him, he believes it's a curse. Who can blame him? Just imagine Old Mother Hubbard hiding in his pantry on a daily basis... Yeah, I cringed, too.

So, pretty much every single lady in Storybook Land is under Edward's spell.

Except for Bella.

So, for weeks Bella and Edward try to work on his problem. As time goes by, there is some progress made, but only on a professional level.

Or is there more?

Obviously, you have to read the rest. You won't be disappointed, though, I promise you!

I loved, loved, LOVED this story! It oozes humour, charm, and cuteness with a perfect amount of lemon to end such a unique story. Much like a real fairy tale story, this is something I have read more than once when I'm in need of a pick-me-up. Amidst the thousands of TwiFics out there, this is something truly out of the ordinary. A winner of the Once Upon a Twilight contest, you'll understand why it deserved the win. A definite MUST read.
